Apologies this blog has been a long time coming. Writer's block. I am taking Q&A's for future blogs.
Death and taxes are two certainties in life. In the world of internet escorting more likely than not a good website and good photos are necessities. The pictures are one of the first things that clients see. They make a split second judgement on you based on these.
Having had a stint of modelling before this industry I have had my experience behind the camera. The main difference is they don't tell you how hard glamour photography is. One of my favourite things about this line of work is the pictures. I try to have as much fun out of the shoots as possible and I hope they reflect in my images.
My first shoot as an escort was with the great Andy Morgan up in London. I was petrified. I packed as many items as I could in my jumbo case on wheels, essential for photoshoots. The studio was unlike others I had been in. It was quite a small room with about six different areas for backdrops. To this day I still see some of his old work and have fond memories, the box in the wall, the white wooden vented door, the sofa, he stopped working about four yrs ago and only does selected girls pictures.
We sat and chatted whilst Andy rummaged through my stuff. Quick dash to get dressed and the snapping began. I remember my first image. A low cut black dress with a diagonal cut on the bottom. I laid on the floor with my legs up the wall for this. Not a painful picture. Once we had warmed up and changed outfits a few times the poses got more taxing. NOTE TO READERS: The sexier the picture the more likely the more painful for the model.
Ohh, the jelly legs after squatting in the same position for minutes at an end, through gritted teeth spitting out the words "Are you done yet" "Hurry up" "I'm trying to smile but it hurts to much". I came away from the shoot feeling sexy as hell and pleased with the day I'd had. About a week later I received a copy of my pictures via email whilst sitting at my desk in the office. I studied them from every angle amazed at how great they were. I think I even fancied myself. To this day Andy has never failed to wow me with his work. I rarely see one of his pics and think "I don't like how I look there".
The key to a good picture is lighting and angles. He would twist and contort me to make the best out of my assets.
Over the years I have changed dress size, bust, and hair colour ALOT!! The key behind keeping the reviews good is accurate pictures, as long as you advertise with a true reflection of yourself then there is nothing to worry about. There is nothing worse than out of date pictures.
Many clients say that would love to sit in on one of my shoots and the truth is....although it looks and sounds sexy and glamorous, it really isn't. You don't get to see that much as you are pushed back by the photographer and his lighting kit. And the model will stay in the same position for ages just slightly moving or changing expressions. I had a client once sit in on a duo shoot, the novelty of wanting to spectate wore off after the first image. There is only so much of nipples being pushed back in to clothing, pulling wedgies out of backside and re-arranging boobs that you want to see.
Some photographers will provide hair and make up, which is a great touch to the day. Photography make up is always thicker but it looks so much more sexier. On paper it looks good but in the flesh you look like you have been tangoed, like it has been slapped on with a trowel. They always curl my hair on those shoots. I rarely curl it in real life, cos it takes hours and as soon as one client breaths near a curl it drops to a slight wave. But it is a nice feel for the day. One of my last shoots I got plastered on, you can tell but how my clothes became less and less.
I like to dabble in with different photographers all the time. But as Vin DaLoo put it to me today no two pictures of me look alike. I am constantly changing my image with slight tweaks here and there and push the pictures to new boundaries. I don't want to have pictures just like every other girl out there, I am me and I want people to see that in my pictures.
A bad photographer can be costly, time consuming and make you look a good few stone heavier. A good one will give the lads mags a run for their money. The good ones are like gold dust and you have to hang on to them.
Important hints and tips for photoshoots as per one that has made these mistakes.
1. Always make sure you are free of stray hairs, legs, bikini, arm pits and eyebrows.
2. Make sure your nails are neat.
3. DO NOT wear tight clothing or a bra if you can help it on the day of the shoot, it leaves marks on the skin.
4. If you are going to fake tan do it in advance in case of accidents.
5. Make sure hair roots are taken care of before the photos, not in my case a few days after!
6. Pack as many items as possible, remembering to pack certain underwear with certain outfits.
7. Don't forget accessories, jewellery, HAIR GRIPS, and hair spray.
8. Never leave home with the curling tongs or straightening iron.
9. Have the image rights signed over to you, I have lost count of the amount of girls that have never done this. I always get mine signed over. I even own the rights to about 5 other escorts pictures as they never bothered to ask for them. You don't want your pics being sold to the papers.
10. I always want music, it is something to jiggle along to or sing along to depend on the pose.
Pack a selection of correctly fitting, matching underwear sets, tones that compliment your skin tone, don't wash it out.
Some evening wear is always a hit. A few nice dresses, top and skirts. Flatter your body with hem lines and neck lines. What might look great one might photograph badly. Don't punish your photographer with prints. They are always a tough one to capture well, as are certain materials.
Don't forget the shoes that go with the outfit.
AND IN MY CASE put knickers on under your dresses, when you squat you don't want him to see what you have had for breakfast.
Don't wear something in the photograph that you either don't own or would not wear for a booking. If leopard is not your thing, don't get photographed in it, chances are you will get asked to wear it. You wont see me in a school uniform so the image was long scrapped.
Remember to always have fun on the shoots and go for minimal airbrushing, if you really need to. There is no point removing two stone from the picture if it isn't removed from your body, the client will always find out.
SODS LAW
The sods law with images states that if your body looks fab in one picture chances are it is going to be the picture where you face looks at it's worst and vice versa.
Think wisely and carefully about the implications of showing your face before you do. Do you pay your taxes, does your family know, do your friends know, do you live in rented accommodation, do you have another job, do you have a media profile? For three years I blurred mine then embarked on showing facial pictures and during the past two years I have dabbled with showing and not showing. Currently not showing as knew that I was going to be featured in The Times and selected other media. Be prepared to be spotted and people whisper if you show your face. I have been around a pool in Egypt and got spotted, at Dubai airport, out shopping with family, you never know how people are going to react, it is not great walking into your local pub and a group of guys say "Oi ain't you that Kimberley bird of the net" then they produce their phone and dial your number, oh yes it happens, or the nights when you are trying to have a romantic meal with a loved one, cue a drunk/stupid/annoying/loved up/all of the mentioned client that decides that they want to see you then and there and sod the fact that you were gazing longingly into someone else's eyes.
If in doubt ask other escorts who they use, research photographers, look at other images to gain ideas, ask the photographer things you should pack.
Be creative! A unique picture is great. Don't be afraid to buy gimmicky props, you can always take them back if they don't work. Look in magazines for ideas and cut the pages out of pictures you like.
When you have your new images let others help you choose the final pictures, what you might like as a female might be the opposite to a male. I recent quashed all the smily pictures whereas my photographer loved the smile.
